More Shall Be Revealed

And only one day after I posted those pictures of my daylillies in front of the shed? The ones that were just about ready to burst into song?

They started singing.

Deep dark daylilly

lighter twins

The best part of all this is that I really didn't know what colors would greet me when they finally opened their mouths and Yawped... it was a surprise until the day they bloomed. Look at how frilly those pale peachy ones are at the edges! And the deep scarlet of the top two!

So satisfying.

Don't get me wrong, I love the standard-issue orange daylillies as much as the next gal. But they are sort of all over Cape Cod. And I have a real thing for inserting the element of surprise into my gardening, so I like to order the occasional mixed-bag of plants and stick them in the ground to see what happens. Love that.

I get my daylillies from this great organic farm in Vermont that just specializes in daylillies of all sorts and flavors.

I think it's clearly time to order another mystery bundle of these beauties, don't you?
